Will cleaning my roof damage it?

This is a good question, there are several different methods to clean a roof. The methods we use will not damage your roof. Unfortunately, there is not one method that fits all. Firstly, we will come and inspect the roof to ensure it is suitable to be cleaned – we will visually check to see if there is any damage, tiles or mortar missing which could possibly cause water ingress. Then depending on if the roof is structurally safe and suitable for cleaning, we will review the roof type and tile type. Some tiles are not suitable for pressure wash cleaning, especially concrete and porous tiles, whilst clay and slate tiles are much more suitable for this process. If pressure washing is not an option, then the roof may be suitable for a soft wash – using biocide/chemicals, that will break down the moss and contaminants on the tile and bring back the original colour of the tile.

Do you use chemicals and if so, will the chemical damage my tiles/roof?

As described above, if pressure washing of the roof is not an option, we will use biocides/chemicals and/or bleach which will restore the tile back to its original colour. The roof will then be “sealed”.

Is roof cleaning necessary?

In a nutshell, no. However, if you are concerned by the appearance of your roof or you are fed up with moss and debris building up in your guttering – then you should consider it.

What cleaning technique will you use to clean my roof?

Depending on the condition of your roof and what tiles it has – we will either jet wash/pressure wash or soft wash the roof.
